Genus name comes from the Greek word Kanna meaning "reed". Cannas are among the most colorful summer bulbs with ruffled spikes tapering to refined buds, boasting immense paddle shaped leaves. Their great reedy canes and palmy foliage make for large, magnificent plants, yielding blooms all summer long for long lasting curb appeal. They are deer resistant and appear most dramatic when grouped in masses. They are fast growers with large flowers.
About this Variety
Canna Tropicanna® Black, also known as Canna Australia and Canna indica 'Lon01" PP #21,350, is a stunning cultivar with burgundy to almost black foliage. With its deep, rich, almost black foliage, this variety creates a striking contrast against the surrounding greenery. The large, lance-shaped leaves exhibit shades of dark burgundy, purple or even black, creating a captivating and mysterious presence. Growing Instructions
Where not hardy, plant outdoors in early summer 2" deep, setting the rhizome in the hole, 'eyes' (shoots) up. Cannas do best with a good supply of water.
Care Tip
As flowers fade, deadhead to promote continued flowering. They like moist conditions.
