Amaryllis bulbs (Hippeastrum) are prized for their brilliant indoor color and are a favorite seasonal gift from October through Valentine's Day. Exceptionally easy to grow, these impressive bulbs produce large, trumpet-shaped blooms that can measure up to 8 inches in diameter. Each bulb is a natural storage organ that contains all the energy needed to produce spectacular flowers, with no complicated care required. Simply provide warmth and light, then enjoy weeks of vibrant, long-lasting blooms. Native to tropical and subtropical regions, Amaryllis thrive indoors during the cooler months, bringing bold color and elegance to any space.

About this Variety

This premium XL Amaryllis comes fully waxed and measures 28/30 cm in circumference. The larger bulb size is important because bigger bulbs typically produce more stems and, in turn, more blooms. The bulb is sealed in a decorative wax coating that helps preserve internal moisture while supporting the stem as it develops. Carefully prepared for effortless enjoyment, it grows soil-free and blooms beautifully without watering or planting.

Growing Instructions

Growing is simple, clean, and effortless. Just unbox the bulb and place it upright on a flat surface with the root plate down and the pointed end facing up. There is no need to water; the bulb already contains all the energy and moisture needed to bloom. For best results, place it in bright, indirect light at normal room temperature. As the stalk grows toward the light, rotate the bulb occasionally to encourage straight, even growth. Blooms typically appear within 4-6 weeks, developing slightly faster early in the season and a bit more slowly later in the season.

Care Tip

Waxed Amaryllis are typically enjoyed as single-season decor. Gardeners in USDA Zones 9-10, and occasionally Zone 8, may attempt to replant them outdoors, while those in cooler regions can try potting them indoors. Rebloom success varies, as waxed bulbs have already used much of their stored energy and may need a full growing season or longer to recover. Because conditions differ by climate, research care recommendations specific to your area before attempting to regrow. Before replanting in the garden or in a pot, carefully remove all wax by hand.
